Phew what a summer.

This summer, whilst I was supposed to be flying back home to the UK to visit my parents and celebrate my mother’s 70th birthday, I spent the month in hospital. As a coach fascinated with the brain, the irony does not escape me that I ended up with an abscess in that very organ. Luckily between the wonders of modern technology and the skills of a very sexy neurologist I survived the whole procedure and now am back home and recuperating well.

Although not a spiritual person, I still do believe in looking at the lessons that dramatic events have to teach us. And the big one I had is that I am not in fact immortal. Yeah big surprise that one! It has made me look at my life and in particular a problem that I have had for a couple of years that I have been in utter denial of - diabetes. I am finally taking it very seriously indeed and have even overcome my absolute terror of giving myself injections and now give myself daily insulin injections as well as watching my diet carefully and exercising regularly. I am crafting a whole new mindset around living healthier and believe that the abscess will ultimately extend my life by giving me such a dramatic wake up call.

So my readers, what in your life are you ignoring that you really need to pay attention to? What new mindset can you adopt in order to face up to the truth? If you need any help, feel free to get in touch.
